“The world needs a global capital and it should be the capital of Islamic Turkey, Istanbul,” according to a UN special representative, Richard Falk, who not only is Jewish and anti-Israel, he’s a 9/11 Truther, as well.
There have been increasing calls for the U.N. Human Rights Council to dismiss Richard Falk after he posted on his personal blog a cartoon depicting a dog wearing a shirt labeled “USA” and a yamulke marked with a Star of David devouring a bloody human carcass, while urinating on Lady Justice’s foot.
CNS NEWS Falk, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Palestinian human rights, wrote a Nov. 1, 2012, opinion piece for the controversial al Jazeera English site calling for a “global capital” because of integration “by markets, by globally constituted battlefields, by changing geopolitical patterns.”
Falk recommended what al Jazeera called a “modest proposal” that should move the world past “the persisting tendency is to view the hierarchy of global cities from a West-centric perspective: London, New York, Paris, Los Angeles placed in the first rank.” Along with his UN duties, he is the Albert G. Milbank Professor Emeritus of International Law at Princeton University and Visiting Distinguished Professor in Global and International Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Falk said there were two sides on where to locate such a capital – hard and soft power dynamics. He defined hard power as a view “that history is principally made by those who prevail in warfare, and little else.
His description of soft power included “culture, political vitality, religious identity and ethics shapes and forms what unfolds.” He listed “several factors” why to choose Istanbul. Those included the city as a tourist destination, it has “also become a secure and acceptable place to hold the most delicate diplomatic discussions,” it is convenient, and Turkey has “gained economic and political credibility at a time when so many important states have either been treading water so as to remain afloat.”
He credited Turkey for “achieving a stable interface between secular principles and religious freedom” and for “moving away from the ‘over-secularisation.’” Falk said choosing Istanbul as a world capital would be good because Turkey could provide the “satisfactions of a post-Western world civilisation.”

1. “Trusting Khomeini”: Last week, Falk justified his 1979New York Timesop-ed titled “Trusting Khomeini.”Days after Ayatollah Khomeini seized power in 1979, Falk reassured the world that “the depiction of him as fanatical, reactionary and the bearer of crude prejudices seems certainly and happily false.” Khomeini’s entourage, wrote Falk, had “a notable record of concern for human rights.”Indeed, the ayatollah’s “new model of popular revolution” offered the world “a desperately-needed model of humane governance for a third-world country.”
2. Endorses Biased Mandate: In 2008, after Falk claimed Israel was planning a “Palestinian Holocaust,” Bashar al-Assad’s Syria, Muammar Gaddafi’s Libya and other dictatorships installed him as the council’s monitor on Palestine. His mission is so biased that Falk tries to obscure it. He calls himself the Special Rapporteur on “the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories,” implying a regional jurisdiction examining all sides. Yet his actual mandate is to investigate “Israel’s violations.” Not Hamas, not Fatah, not Islamic Jihad—only Israel.
3. So Pro-Hamas, Fatah Wanted Him Fired: Falk uses his UN post to legitimize Hamas, ignoring its brutalization of fellow Palestinians, rocketing of Israeli civilians and incitement to genocidal murder of Jews. Falk’s reports whitewash Hamas as the “elected government” of Gaza, omitting to mention that it seized power by throwing opponents off rooftops. His backing of the terrorist group is so extreme that even the Palestinian Authority urged his removal, viewing him as a “partisan of Hamas.”

Posted Anti-Semitic Cartoon: Falk last year published a cartoon showing a dog, with “U.S.A.” written on its body and wearing a Jewish headcover, devouring a bloody skeleton and urinating on a female figure symbolizing justice.UN rights chief Navi Pillayfound the posting “anti-Semitic” and “objectionable.” Falk was condemned byBritish Prime Minister David Cameron,Ambassador Susan Rice, and many others. Eventually, after initially insisting he did nothing doing wrong, Falk reluctantly apologized — to Jews, and animals.
5.Ban Ki-moon condemned Falk’s 9/11 Conspiracy Theories:Falk is one of the world’s top 9/11 conspiracy theorists, endorsing those who accuse the U.S. government of orchestrating the destruction of the Twin Towers as a pretext to launch wars. Falk promotes the writings of David Ray Griffin, his disciple and close friend who produced 12 books describing the World Trade Center attack as “an inside job.” In an unprecedented reprimand,UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon took the floor of the Human Rights Council to decry Falk’s 9/11 theories as “preposterous” and “an affront to the memory of the more than 3,000 people who died in that tragic terrorist attack.” Likewise, U.S.Ambassador Susan Rice called Falk’s 9/11 remarks “despicable.”His “distasteful sideshow,” she said, harms the cause of human rights.
